HELLO!
Earlier this week, I was thinking about what to make my husband and I for our Christmas feast. We aren’t traditional and don’t really celebrate the holidays, but we like a bountiful feast.
It really got me thinkin about my holiday dinners as a kid.
When I was a youth, growing up in the bustling metropolis of Edmonton, Alberta, every time a holiday would come around, my dad, my brother and I would pack our car and drive out to the country to have dinner with the farm fam. My country brethren. And every holiday, my grandma, no matter what season, would make a turkey, mashed potatoes, and cabbage rolls. No exceptions.
Why is it, that turkey is considered a holiday food? Why did my grandma choose EVERY SINGLE HOLIDAY as the perfect time to ingest a bird that put people to sleep?
I found this aptly named video on THE INTERNET. Feel free to give it a watch…
If you don’t wanna watch the video, basically… King Henry VIII said so.
REGARDLESS, I wanna know,
what is a holiday staple that you HAVE TO consume?? What is the treat you need to eat to make it feel like the holidays? Let me know in the comments!
(for me, it’s a terry’s chocolate orange. I know they’re available year round, but they taste better in December.)
