It’s no secret I love Canadian Rock.
Rush, Kim Mitchell, The Guess Who, BTO, and of course, April Wine.
Miles Goodwyn was the bomb. Was.
He passed away on December 3rd.
I was never lucky enough to see April Wine live, BUT, my husband Zach did. His mom and dad, my in-laws, taught Zach about good Canadian Rock and eventually took him to an April Wine concert (They ended up getting kicked out because they snuck Zach into the adults only section just so he could be closer to the stage).
Now, as an adult AND a musician, Zach takes inspiration from those classic Canadian artists, Alex Lifeson, Kim Mitchell, and of course Miles Goodwyn.
It’s awful when someone you look up to passes, but we will remember their impact and will always continue to spread the love and show people how incredible April Wine is.
After 5 decades of rocking out, as well as selling over 10 million albums worldwide, multiple Juno nominations, a spot on the Canadian Walk of Fame AND a recent induction into the Canadian Song Writers Hall of Fame, we can proudly say that Miles Goodwyn will go down as a Canadian legend.
Oowatanite. Everything will be alright.
