Remembrance Day is upcoming this Saturday. Please take a moment to pause and reflect and observe this occasion.
Here’s the details on local observances, at the Glenwood Centre and around the community:
10:00 at the Glenwood Centre Winnie Koal and Bob Phillip will be on stage representing the Widows & Mothers of Canada.
The entry march starts at 10:45 until 10:50
Everyone is implored to be in their seats by 10:30
Following the ceremonies at the Glenwood Centre, a second dedication is held at the Field of Honour at the Greenwood Cemetery.
Following that is a dedication at the First Nations cemetery which is next door.
The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 293 will be open to the general public after the event with the bar opening at 12:00pm
I’ve always been impressed with how Port Alberni honours their veterans. The Glenwood Centre is ALWAYS filled to beyond capacity. I hope to see you on Saturday morning.
I used to always play this song on the radio on Remembrance Day. It’s a great example of how easy it is in the hustle and bustle of modern life to forget – but it also shows how easy it is to just stop, and remember. It’s a Pittance of Time.
Please give this video a watch!
