Years of work on an alternate truck route has come to a grinding halt.
Despite stacks of studies and reports, and purchase of a right of way through the Catalyst property, council voted yesterday to drop the truck route from a high-priority project to a low priority.
Councillor Chris Alemany says while council remains concerned about the effect of truck traffic on Third and Anderson avenues, he says a waterfront route lacks foresight and the whole project needs a re-think.
An arterial route outside the city has been discussed as a possibility, but the city would have to work with the province and Island Timberlands.
