The Port Alberni Port Authority has received support from the Canadian Chamber of Commerce for their transhipment hub proposal, which would significantly ease traffic problems through the lower mainland.
In a special report to the national group, the Port Alberni Transhipment Hub was listed as a project that should be taken under consideration as the federal government develops its latest infrastructure plan.
Port Authority spokesman David McCormick says the recommendation carries a lot of weight.
“Governments do look favorably upon their research as an independent, unbiased organization representative of a large number of interests across Canada, for Canadians,” he said.
The Canadian Chamber of Commerce will be voting on a resolution to support the PATH project at their AGM this Fall
