The BC Ministry of Environment is reporting that last week’s fuel spill near the Kennedy River was contained to roadside soils.
Spokesperson David Karn says the site is now considered stable with low potential for environmental impacts to Kennedy Lake and the surrounding environment.
Further plans to address any potential impacts are being finalized by an environmental contractor who will liaise with the Ministries of Environment and Transportation and Infrastructure as well as the responsible party and local First Nations.
Karn said Canadian Air Crane is responsible for all cleanup costs under B.C.s polluter pay model.
