The Bamfield Business Community believes they are about to become the next Tofino, and are modelling their local economy after the popular tourist town.
With the chip-seal paving of the Bamfield Road, real estate values have skyrocketted and available properties quickly snapped up by investors.
Now, an allies tourism fee program is being implemented, similar to the Tribal Parks Allies Initiative in Tofino.
Island Coastal Economic Trust is investing $45,000 in the $95,000 project.
Huu-ay-aht Chief Councillor John Jack says the fee will be put towards local stewardship and sustainable tourism development.
