Port Alberni RCMP are blocking an alley near lower 4th Avenue as they investigate a targetted shooting.
Neighbours report hearing at least two shots around 5:30 this morning.
Frontline officers arrived and contained the area where witnesses have been identified and interviewed while the male victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The investigation is still within its early hours and investigators from the Port Alberni RCMP General Investigation Section, Police Service Dog and Forensic Identification Section are assisting frontline officers, says Corporal Alex Bérubé, spokesperson for the BC RCMP. Initial information gathered is leading investigators to believe this was a targeted attack.
No arrests have been made at this time. Police are looking for an older model black Dodge pickup truck which was seen leaving the area at the time of the incident.
