Sunday night lightning storms sparked a long path of small fires up the spine of the island and into the central coast.
Closest to Port Alberni is a small fire in the Nahmint River area that was discovered Monday evening.
The other closest fire is on Mt. Schofield near Bowser, while most other fires stretch from Strathcona Provincial Park north through the Sayward area.
