Commercial fishing for sockeye has now ended after fisheries researchers downgraded the forecast run size.
The run was first estimated at 700,000 fish in June, and was upgraded to 800,000 later that month.
Fishing plans were based on that estimate, until yesterday when the run size was downgraded to 650,000, also adjusting the total allowable catch.
220,000 sockeye have made it back to their spawning grounds at Sproat and Great Central lakes, while 330,000 were caught by the commercial, recreational and First Nations fleets.
While commercial net fisheries have been closed, sports fishing for sockeye is still open with anglers allowed 4 fish per day.
