Fisheries and Oceans Canada predicts another strong year for the local chinook fishery.
According to the 2023 terminal return forecast, 114,000 Robertson Creek chinook are expected to return.
Last year, almost 150,000 hatchery chinook returned to local waters, a 13% increase over the original prediction.
Sockeye fishing, which will ramp up in the next few days, is also predicted the be strong this year with 700,000 fish expected to return to Sproat and Great Central lakes.
