Donald McQuarrie jailed for thefts



A 31-year old Port Alberni man was sentenced to 6 montths jail for a series of thefts.

Donald McQuarrie pled guilty to breaking in to the Salvation Army thrift store last summer, smashing a glass case and making off with more than $3,000 in jewellry that was part of a silent auction display.

He also admitted to stealing lottery tickets and merchandise from the Co-op Gas Bar, Husky, and 7-11.

McQuarrie said he was deep in addiction at the time, and since being jailed last month he is getting off of drugs.

Once released from jail McQuarrie will be on probation for a year and will have to pay restitution of $390 to Co-op and Husky.
