City Council introduced a last-minute item to the budget, after the results of a violence risk assessment at city hall.
Mayor Sharie Minions said some changes will be made to ensure the safety of city council and staff.
“We recently conducted a review of safety at City Hall, just following some comments that had been made and best practices at other municipalities,” she said. “We are not publicly sharing that report however there was some initial work that needed to be done, that council wanted to commit to getting done right away, so you will see some improvements to council chambers and additionally to our City Hall reception area.”
Minions confirmed that the $35,000 being spent on the changes were because of a recent threatening incident at city hall, but she wouldn’t give details.
