The Alberni-Clayoquot Regional District announced its taxation starting point of 14%.
ACRD Chairman John Jack says yesterday’s announcement is just the beginning of an extensive process that will take place over the coming weeks.
He said the regional district is facing a financially challenging time as the 2023 budget is a $4 million increase from last year’s budget, and now sits at $29.6 million.
The taxation increase will vary amongst the different rural areas, depending on the services used.
An open house will be held on Monday at Cherry Creek Hall from 5-8 pm, with a presentation of the plan at 7 pm, allowing the public an opportunity to ask questions and provide input on the draft plan.
