A 45 year old Ucluelet man received a 5-month community sentence order after pleading guilty to secretly recording nudity.
Douglas Goodwin will be on probation for a year, and not allowed to possess any device capable of recording images, after he placed a pen camera in a hidden spot, but it was quickly discovered and when analysed the first recordings are of him turning it on, using a sharpie to black out the cameras light, and then placing it.
In passing sentence, Judge Alexander Wolf said he’s very worried about the increased use of technology invading peoples lives.
Goodwin now lives in the Okanagan, and is prohibited from contacting the victim or their family.
