Seven people have been temporarily displaced after fire tore through a 3-storey house on Josephine late yesterday morning.
Deputy Fire Chief Wes Patterson said there was smoke and flames visible when crews arrived, and three people from the home were checked by ambulance crews for smoke inhalation.
The house is on Hupacasath land and has become a problem property according to neighbours.
At least a half-dozen trailers surround the home and the Hupacasath Nation says they are also concerned about the property and are working with the RCMP.
Police are in charge of the fire investigation, which Patterson says was started by “smoking material”.
