Members of the Port Alberni Oldtimers Baseball Club are hoping to host the next National tournament.
The recently reformed Port Alberni Cubs travelled to Halifax this past summer and placed second in the 55 and over tournament.
Rob Ivezich asked for city support of their application, and a committment to bring local ball fields back to standard.
Parks and Recreation manager Willa Thorpe said the recomended improvements would cost the city $280,000 but some of the work was already in the budget.
City Council approved the expenditure and offered to assist in the application process
