House prices double in 3 years

Alberni continues to outpace other island cities in increased house prices.

According to Vancouver Island Real Estate Board statistics, the benchmark price of a single family home rose by 42.5% in one year, while other cities rose between 25 and 35%

The recent meteoric rise in house prices is believed to be slowing now, as inventory increases and interest rates begin to temper the market.

The benchmark price of a home in Port Alberni is now $617,000 – almost double what is was just 3 years ago.

38 homes sold in our area last month, down from 51 the previous month.
