More than 100 people crowded into the upstairs meeting area at the Athletic Hall last night, concerned about a housing development at the top of Burde Street, and its possible effects on two beaver ponds.
SAN Group recently purchased the 60 acre area with the intention to build 2800 housing units.
Concerns were expressed about the effects on the riparian area, complaining city protection bylaws are extremely weak.
Mayor Sharie Minions attended the meeting along with many council members to counter misinformation being spread online.
She said the SAN Group’s development application has not come before council yet, and the city has no intention to sell or redevelop the log train trail.
