Port Alberni properties continue to leap in price, but are still far below the regional average.
House prices were up by 46% last month compared with the previous April, with the average home selling for $615,000
Throughout the areas of Vancouver Island north of the Malahat, most cities are also seeing increased year-over-year prices in the 30-40% range with the average being $882,000
Port Alberni apartment prices are also increasing to an average of $377,000, slightly more expensive than Cowichan and marginally cheaper than Campbell River, and townhouse prices remained fairly stable at $344,000
Port Alberni was also the only area within VIREB that saw an increase in the number of homes sold last month, while all other areas saw a significant decrease.
