Hike to High Ground event

The walk is part of Tsunami Preparesness week, and according to Protective Services Coordinator Karen Freethy is a chance to educate people on what to do in the event of an earthquake or tsunami.

The walk begins at 1pm and ends at the Trinity Community Hall, one of Port Alberni’s designated reception centres.

Freethy says people should be at least 20 metres up from the water after an earthquake or during a tsunami warning, and know where that height is relative to your home and workplace.
