The family of a deceased 6-year old child is demanding action in finding his alleged killer.
Dontay Lucas was found dead in a Port Alberni townhome in March 2018.
Nuu-chah-nulth Tribal Council vice-president Mariah Charleson says the family and community need answers.
“We lost a six-year old boy in this community. The community should be absolutely outraged and screaming for justice,” she said. “Whoever has done this is still out walking in our community. This is unacceptable. The justice system isn’t working right now. It’s not protecting our most precious and vulnerable people, our little children.”
The family and their supporters gathered at Victoria Quay yesterday afternoon to remember Dontay.
Charleson said RCMP investigators told the family a year and a half ago that they were close to an arrest, but there has been little information since then.
