McLean Mill can once again host weddings and other celebrations after the Agricultural Land Commission initially ruled against it.
In a decision released last night, the ALC agreed to exclude most of the National Historic Site from Agricultural Land Reserve rules and allow for non-farm use.
Both the City of Port Alberni and Alberni Valley Chamber of Commerce appealed the initial decision by the ALC, arguing the need to continue with the highest and best use of the site.
Mayor Sharie Minions said the city is happy to now have certainty in moving forward and proud to be able to showcase the incredible historic site to the community and visitors.
The Jake Leynaar fish hatchery will remain on ALR land.
