Construction continues to increase significantly in Port Alberni.
According to the latest statistics from city hall, 58 new single family homes were built last year, a 70% increase over the 34 built in 2020.
The value of those homes was more than double, going from $10.7 million in 2020 to $21.6 million in 2021.
The number of permits for renovations and additions dipped slightly last year, as did Industrial and Commercial construction permits.
According to BC Housing, a record number of new homes were registered across the province in 2021.
