Protesters oppose vaccine passport

A half dozen people showed up at yesterday’s city council meeting, opposing mandatory vaccinations, masks, and vaccine passports.

They made their cases before council during the public input period at the beginning of the meeting, then returned for question period at the end.

Mayor Sharie Minions said the city is powerless to overrule provincial regulations.

“We have been having more and more people in the community come to council to voice their concerns about the vaccine passport and while we certainly appreciate individual views, it is not the stance of council to look for opportunities to override a provincial health order,” she said.

Protesters left frustrated by the city’s response.
