Local governments are developing emegency evacuation plans for the city and rural areas, and are looking for public input.
Protective Services Coordinator Karen Freethy said the Evacuation Route Plan will consider all hazards including tsunami, wildfire, flooding, dam breach, and chemical spill and how to respond.
“We’ve hired a company called Calian Limited and they’ll be working with our partners and stakeholders to develop a plan that looks at different assembly points, identified transportation methods and looks at choke points and key locations,” she said.
The city and regional district are hosting a series of open houses, starting in Beaver Creek this morning, and moving to Echo Centre this evening.
