House prices continue to skyrocket in the Alberni Valley according to the latest report.
The MLS sales summary for August shows average prices shot up by almost 54%, going from $400,000 last year, to $614,000 last month.
Vancouver Island Real Estate Board president Ian Mackay said prices will continue to rise unless demand drops or listings increase.
Unit sales were down 11% in the Port Alberni / West Coast area, with 40 homes selling last month, compared to 45 in August of last year.
