Port Alberni RCMP are investigating after a man was shot and killed inside a home on 18th Avenue near Argyle Street last night.
The area was flooded with emergency vehicles shortly after 6 pm, with police, fire, ambulance, and an air ambulance that landed in a nearby school parking lot.
According to a media release sent out this morning, “the scene is being held pending Judicial Authorization to advance the investigation. The parties involved are known to each other, there is no threat to neighbours or the community and no connection to gangs or organized crime”.
Sgt. Peter Dionne says a suspect was taken into custody without incident.
He said “the investigation is in the early stages and Provincial Crown Counsel will be briefed and engaged today. Disclosure of information is being managed and any further information will be through the E Division Media Relations Unit”.
