In an attempt to beat the heat, many people have been heading to local lakes, rivers and the ocean.
As a result there has been an increase in medical emergencies on the water.
Yesterday, Port Alberni paramedics responded to a near drowning off Victoria Quay, and on Saturday a similar incident at Sproat Lake.
The previous weekend, a person drowned at Long Beach, which has prompted a call for the reinstatement of lifeguards near the popular surfing area near Lovekin Rock.
