Police are investigating the string of recent fires in and around Dry Creek Park to see if they’re connected.
Port Alberni Fire Chief Mike Owens said it’s highly unusual to have more than a dozen fires in one area within just 9 days.
Port Alberni RCMP say there have been suspects observed in the area at the times of the fires and they’re looking for witnesses, dashcam video, or other video.
In a statement released yesterday, they say with the current dry conditions and typical afternoon winds, their is a strong potential for the rapid spread of a catastrophic fire.
