A 29-year old Port Alberni man is under house arrest for the next 5 months after secretly recording women in washrooms.
Jonathan McCabe Watson pled guilty to six counts of secretly recording nudity in a private place after being caught positioning his cell phone in a shared bathroom in a house where he rented a room, and in the staff changeroom at the Redford Street McDonalds where he worked.
Police found 86 videos in total on his phone, one was more than 30-minutes long.
McCabe Watson was a first time offender with serious mental health issues and apologized to the court saying his wants to attone for his crimes.
He was given a 9-month Community Sentence Order, 2 years probation with counselling conditions, and has to perform 40 hours of community work service. He’ll be under 24-hour a day house arrest for the first 5 months of his sentence, and then a 9pm to 7 am curfew for the remaining 4 months.
