The Province will launch a dozen improvement projects along Highway 4 this summer.
Stefan Yancey, Operations Manager for Central Vancouver Island, said improving pedestrian traffic at Cathedral Grove remains among their top priorities.
“Cathedral Grove is a high priority for us. It’s one of our big projects along with Kennedy Hill,” he said. “We went out to the public with designs so we’re just in the process of finalizing what design will be brought forward in the final round of public engagement in late Spring.”
Yancey said they will host virtual engagement sessions within the next few months.
He said paving the S-curves on the east side of the Hump will also be a priority project this summer, and will probably start in June.
“Everybody is aware of these if they drive from Port Alberni to Parksville,” he said. “We have some road-based issues in that sections and towards the end of June we’ll be repairing some of those sections.”
He said blasting Angel Rock is no longer a priority, but preliminary work is being done to improve the intersection at Beaver Creek Road.
