Local university receives $6 million

The National Institute of Disability Management has received a $6 million grant from the provincial government to attract more students to Pacific Coast University programs based in Port Alberni.
Executive Director Wolfgang Zimmerman said much of the money will go into scholarship programs.
“It really gives us the ability to dramatically expand what we’re doing,” he said. “It adds a whiole range of new scholarships for our degree programs both on the full-time side, and we’ll be launching a part-time bachelor’s degree in disability management starting this fall.”
Zimmerman said government funding allows PCU to offer free return-to-work educational modules to employers in BC.
