Monday’s fire at an unsanctioned RV park on 4th Avenue is a further example of why the City is working to have it dismantled, according to Mayor Sharie Minions.
“We are very fortunate that it wasn’t worse. This is exactly what we’ve been worrying about,” she said. “Our concern is that the same thing will happen again and the result will be signinficantly worse. This is not a safe way to have housing set up. Recognizing that there is a housing crisis in this community, we’re working hard on alternatives but this is not a viable solution. It’s not a safe solution for anyone to be living in.”
She said the city is working on dismantling the rv lot and finding more suitable accomodations for the people renting there.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
