MOSAIC to allow some access this summer

Protests against backwoods gate closures continue, as MOSAIC says they will begin to allow some access.

A new agreement between the forest company, province and regional district will see access to Lowry Lake and Scout Beach according to MOSAIC Chief Forester Domenico Iannidinardo.

“We feel good about Lowry Lake and Scout Beach access roads because they’re fairly straight and wide and now they’ll be open 24/7 once the pilot kicks off formally this summer,” he said. “So people won’t have to be as concerned about them as they were in the past in terms of when the gates are going to close. It will be easier for them to plan their trips out to those two sites.”

Iannidinardo says a working group will monitor conditions through the summer, and if all goes well, allow traffic through their lands to Mount Arrowsmith Regional Park and other popular locations.
