Mid Island / Pacific Rim MLA Josie Osborne participated in an ACRD Board Meeting on Friday, after chairing the organization for many years.
She said many of the priority issues within the Alberni – Clayoquot Regional District remain priorities for her as MLA, including concerns about illegal camping along West Main and around Kennedy and Great Central lakes.
“With the pandemic we’ve seen a lot more interest in the outdoors and then we have people coming out to the west coast,” she said. “I think the west coast have always been really attractive, but seeing some of the behaviours in the backroads is something that concerns a lot of people, and there are concerns about the people who are comping there, and their own health and safety.”
Board members went into the meeting with 8 selected topics for Osborne, who also holds a central portfolio as Minister of Municipal Affairs.
