City council has asked for a report on the Kingsway Hotel after questions were raised about permitted work on the century-old building.
Councillor Helen Poon recused herself from the discussion as she owns the hotel, and has previously apologized for not having the appropriate city permits during renovations.
Mayor Minions said she believes the city actions of issuing a stop work order was appropriate, but recognized it may not have happened quickly enough.
Staff will prepare a report for the next council meeting.
