MP protests prorouge of Parliament

Courtenay – Alberni MP Gord Johns says the prime minister’s scandals are getting in the way of helping average Canadians during the COVID pandemic.

He said the Prime Minister should not have shut down Parliament while people are wondering how they’ll survive next month when Canada Emergency Response Benefit payments end.

“Canadians are struggling right now and they deserve a government that’s committed to helping people get the help they need, not one that hides when they get caught working for their well-connected friends,” he said. “Shutting down parliament in the middle of a pandemic and an economic crisis that we haven’t seen since the Great Depression is flat-out wrong.”

Johns said Prime Minister Trudeau has a bad habit of making cabinet ministers quit in order to distract attention from his own scandals.
