A top lawyer has been disbarred for his handling of the Kristy Morrey murder case.
David Kidd was head crown counsel in Port Alberni and later in Nanaimo.
According to documents released from the Law Society of BC, Kidd refused evidence from Morrey’s aunt who worked at the Port Alberni courthouse, showing the 28-year old woman was afraid of her 42-year old boyfriend Larry Darling.
Morrey was found dead in her Lugrin Road home in August 2006.
After a $2 million investigation, RCMP charged Darling with first degree murder in 2015 but the case was later dismissed
Kidd admitted his misconduct of the case and is prohibited from practicing law for the next 5 years.
