The City is partnering with the Canadian Mental Health Association to build subsidized housing on Second Avenue.
CMHA has already received more than $150,000 for a feasability study for the project which would have commercial space on the ground floor, and apartments above.
Mayor Sharie Minions says council supports the idea but nothing has been decided about whether the city will sell, lease, or donate the land.
“The most important thing is getting this housing into our community, and making sure that we can house the people who are most vulnerable and we look at how we can be a supportive part of that,” she said. “It may be a situation where the land is sold, it may be a donation situation, but we haven’t worked out those details yet.”
The 13,000 square foot site spans three lots between Argyle and Angus streets.
