While most provincial parks have been opened, Cathedral Grove remains closed.
8-foot high fencing blocks the parking lots on both sides of Highway 4, prohibiting any access to the popular park.
According to BC Parks, because of the high volume of visitors, the small parking lot, and the narrowness of the trails through the trees, the area remains temporarily closed.
Environmental impacts related to COVID-19 were also cited, as people have to step off the trails to allow for social distancing as they let others pass.
No word on when the park might re-open.
Pacific Rim National Park Reserve is scheduled to re-open on June 1st
