The Industrial Heritage Society was hoping to squeeze a bit more money out of city council this week, but were turned away.
Mayor Sharie Minions said the city is giving them $58,000 already, and that’s all they’re going to get this year.
“We have had to cut in absolutely every way that we can this year, and to add funds at this point is just not realistic for us,” she said. “We felt that the budget we’ve given them at this point is all we financially can give for this year, and we’re hopeful that they’re able to get some repair work done and get on track for next year.”
The IHS had asked for another $16,500 to hire a manager and supplement train and track repair projects.
