Real Estate holds strong

Vancouver Island real estate sales have been surprisingly unaffected by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board.
In their monthly review, they say 333 homes sold in the mid and north island last month, compared to 259 in February and 308 in March 2019.
While average house prices increased slightly through most of the region, Port Alberni saw the only double-digit increase, with prices up 14% to an average of $362,000.
The number of homes sold last month dropped however, down 27% year-over-year from 26 to 19.
BC Real Estate analysts predict a decrease in home sales in Spring and early summer, but will bounce back in the second half of the year, dependent on what happens with the coronavirus outbreak.
