City delays budget

City leaders are adjusting to the coronavirus pandemic, but remain committed to their roles.
They will hold a city council meeting today, dailing in from home, but still available to the public through the city’s website.
Mayor Sharie Minions will be the only council member in council chambers, because according the city bylaws, the chair must be physically present.
Council will be asked to delay second reading of the budget, and directing staff to revisit the 5-year financial plan, prioritizing new and emerging expenses related to the COVID-19 pandemic while maintaining city service levels.
Staff will also be asked to develop a list of shovel-ready projects, should the federal and provincial government make post-pandemic funds available to cities.
The meeting starts at 2 this afternoon.
