A prolific thief was sent to prison yesterday.
Robert Ainsworth faced 26 charges including 7 counts of Breaking and Entering, 5 counts of fraud, and three counts of theft.
The 36-year old had snuck into Abbeyfield Retirement Home and was caught on video going into 5 different rooms.
In one he stole a wallet, credit cards and $260 cash from an 83-year old resident.
In other cases he distracted staff at the Valley Dental Clinic and stole two purses, using the stolen credit cards at the Cannabis Club and Smoke Stack.
Judge Alexander Wolf said while Ainsworth suffers from FASD and other mental issues, his 9-page conviction list warranted a federal sentence to a penitentiary that would offer more programs than provincial jail, and sentenced him to 26 months.
