A 28 year old Port Alberni man was sentenced to 22 months in jail after going on a crime spree last fall, stealing from parked cars, and Echo Pool lockers.
Roger Stonehouse faced a total of 37 charges, including 19 counts of theft, and 10 counts of possession of stolen property.
He was caught on camera going into Echo Pool, and when police tracked him down in November, they found wallets, keys, cel phones, and other items that had been reported stolen.
One of his 10 victims was able to track their stolen celphone to the Phoenix House, where Stonehouse jumped from a window to escape.
He apologized to the court, blaming addiction issues and asking for a sentence to a rehabilitation facility.
Judge Ronald Webb recommended Stonehouse be admitted to the Guthrie House program at Nanaimo Correctional Centre, and said jails will always be open for him if he doesn’t figure things out.
