Two women were assaulted in separate attacks this past weekend, and police are seeking witnesses and dash cam or surveillance video.
On Saturday between 4 and 5 a.m., a woman walking along 3rd Ave near Dunbar Street was grabbed by two men who demanded money from her.
On Sunday shortly before 6 a.m., a woman was retrieving some items from her vehicle parked on 10th Ave across from Echo Village when a man came out of the woods and grabbed her from behind, sexually assaulting her.
In both cases the women yelled out and fought back, repelling the unknown attackers and reporting the incident to police, who then launched searches of the area.
Port Alberni RCMP Cpl. Amelia Hayden said police are doing everything possible to identify and arrest the men responsible for these assaults.
