Western Forest Products workers are looking at a fifth month on strike after talks between the company and its union ended on the weekend.
United Steel Workers Local 1-1937 issued a three-page statement saying Western “squandered an opportunity to reach a Collective Agreement… by refusing to move off its unreasonable, unwarranted and unacceptable concessions.”
According to the release, some progress was made, but only on issues “that had no cost implications for WFP.”
No word on if or when the two sides will return to mediated talks.
Western’s 2500 unionized employees have been on strike since Canada Day.
