City Council has pressed pause on the McLean Mill log pond dam remediation project after receiving just one bid, and it being in excess of what the city engineer budgetted for.
Mayor Sharie Minions said council needs to assess options, which could include draining the pond
“There would be National Historic Site considerations if we were to just fill in or find another use for the mill pond, as well as environmental considerations, so that may not end up being a cheaper option” she said. “Bids did not come in within the price range that we expected and budgetted for so we are going to continue woking on it and not move forward until we’re satisfied that this is the right move forward.”
Minions said the city has been dealing with problems at the McLean Mill Dam since 2014, and they may re-post the RFP in 6 months.
