Vandals prevented from making amends

Efforts to repair train cars destroyed by vandals will begin this week.

Two boys were caught last week smashing out the windows of a pair of closed passenger coaches and setting off fire extinguishers throughout the cars.

Industrial Heritage Society volunteers say rain forecast this week could turn the powder into a paste and make clean-up efforts worse if they wait, so they’ve begun to tackle the mess.

A parent of at least one of the boys contacted the IHS saying they wanted their son to work at cleaning the mess, but part of standard police release conditions is culprits stay away from the scene of their crimes.

A gofundme page has been started to help cover the estimated $10,000 in damage, and more than $1000 has already been donated.
